What is the District 128 Foundation for Learning?
The District 128 Foundation for Learning was incorporated in 2007 as a 501(c) (3) non-profit, autonomous, tax-exempt organization. In 2006, a group of District 128 residents met as a design team to explore ways in which our community could work together to:
- Enhance student development,
- Promote our school district as a center for lifelong learning,
- Support staff excellence and creativity,
- Promote a unified school district whose focus is learning.
Concluding that "we can NEVER do enough" when it comes to preparing our youth for the future, the group established the framework for a charitable foundation whose mission is to "obtain resources to enhance and enrich the instructional program in Community High School District 128."
What is the Foundation’s mission?
The mission of the District 128 Foundation for Learning is to obtain resources to enhance and enrich the instructional program in Community High School District 128.
What does the Foundation mean for our students?
The Foundation gives District 128 schools the ability to offer students programs and opportunities beyond those already afforded through regular funding.
What are the benefits to donors?
The Foundation is also a powerful way for alumni, community members and interested companies to identify and fund learning experiences above and beyond those financed through tax dollars.
Who are the award winners?
Grants are awarded only to employees of Community High School District 128, with all money used to benefit students at Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School.
When do we award funds?
Innovation grants are awarded in the fall of each year.
Who are the Foundation trustees?

Why is there a need for the Foundation Board and what are the benefits to the students, teachers and our community?
The Foundation gives District 128 schools the ability to offer students programs and opportunities beyond those already afforded through regular funding. Students benefit by being able to participate in unique programs and activities that may not have otherwise been available to them. Teachers benefit by being able to enhance teaching and learning opportunities in their classroom. The Foundation is also a powerful way for alumni, community members and interested companies to identify and fund learning experiences above and beyond those financed through tax dollars.
How can you become involved or serve on a committee?
There are a number of ways to become active with the Foundation as a volunteer. From serving on a committee or helping with an event, to making a donation or serving as a trustee, the Foundation appreciates all gifts of time, knowledge, talent and in-kind contributions. *Naming the Foundation in your will
*Naming the Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or charitable trust

*Giving a gift in someone’s name
The Foundation also appreciates gifts of time, knowledge, talent and in-kind contributions.
