Grant Process

The mission of the District 128 Foundation for Learning is to obtain resources to enhance and enrich the instructional program in Community High School District 128.  In support of this mission, the Foundation will award community-raised funds to seed innovative and creative projects that improve the quality of education for the students of District 128.

The Foundation supports projects that correlate to District 128 curriculum and extracurricular activities. The Innovation Grants application program is available only to District 128 certified and support staff.  Grants are not awarded to support the fundraising efforts of building organizations or clubs. Funding is for a single year only.  We can provide the seed money for a multiyear proposal – we cannot commit to multi-year funding.

Innovation Grants are limited up to $2000 per project. These funds may be combined with other funds. However, Innovation Grant funds will not be released until the other funding sources have been identified and secured. Funds must be used within 18 months of being awarded.

Identical proposals coming from the same department at one school or from the same department at both schools will be considered together as one single proposal with dollar amounts combined.  If that total exceeds the $2000 application limit, the proposal will not be considered.

The grant review committee will evaluate proposals on the following equally weighted criteria:

  1. Project relevance to District programs
  2. Actively engaging students and impacting student learning
  3. Innovation and creativity

Grant proposals will be reviewed by a committee made up of Foundation board members, District 128 staff and administration, and community members.  A blind review process will be used.
